Former head coach of Nepal’s national cricket team, Pubudu Dassanayake, has been appointed as a mentor by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) for the upcoming ICC World Cup League-2 series. Nepal will compete in a triangular ODI series against the USA and Scotland, scheduled from October 25 to November 4 in the United States.
Before the ODI series, Nepal will face the USA in a three-match T20I series, scheduled for October 18, 20, and 21. These matches will take place at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, starting at 5:45 AM Nepali time.
Pubudu first coached Nepal’s team from 2011 to 2015, during which Nepal progressed from ICC World Cricket League Division Four to Division One and made a historic qualification for the 2014 ICC T20 World Cup in Bangladesh. He returned as Nepal’s head coach in December 2021 after Dav Whatmore resigned, but stepped down in July 2022, citing family reasons. After his departure, he briefly coached Canada’s national team but is no longer in that role. Recently, Pubudu has been signed as the head coach for the Janakpur Bolts in the Nepal Premier League.
