Nepali duo Sandeep Lamichhane and Dipendra Airee continue to impress in Global T20 Canada

Nepali duo Sandeep Lamichhane and Dipendra Airee, have continued to perform well in the Global T20 Canada tournament.

Sandeep’s team Surrey Jaguars and Dipendra’s team Montreal Tigers have won in the two playoffs completed on Saturday night. After defeating Vancouver Knights by 38 runs in the first qualifier, Surrey entered the finals of the league, while the Tigers defeated Brampton Wolves by 9 wickets in the eliminator and secured a meeting with Vancouver in the second qualifier.

Chasing a target of 140 runs set by Surrey in the first qualifier, Vancouver lost all wickets for 101 runs in 16.4 overs. Surrey bowler Matthew Ford took 4 wickets, Dillom Helliger took 2 wickets, and Sandeep Lamichhane, Spencer Johnson, Ammar Khalid, and Ayaan Khan took 1 wicket each. Skipper Iftikhar Ahmed scored 36 runs, Ayaan Khan scored 29 runs, and Mohammad Haris scored 20 runs.

Sandeep Lamichhane’s performance:

Sandeep was brought on to bowl very late in the innings, but he still managed to take 1 wicket in his 3 overs, conceding just 15 runs.

Sandeep bowled a tight over in the 10th over, conceding just 1 run. Corbin Bosch scored the only run off the first ball, while Najibullah Zadran was unable to score off the remaining 5 balls.

Sandeep, who had already bowled a tight over in the 10th over, conceded just 1 run in the 12th over as well. He also picked up a wicket in that over, dismissing Ravinderpal Singh.

Sandeep bowled two tight overs in the beginning, conceding only 2 runs in each. However, he conceded 13 runs in his third over, including a four by Fabian Allen off a free hit and a six by Ruben Trumpelman.

Sandeep is currently third in the list of top wicket-takers in the Global T20 Canada tournament, with 11 wickets in 7 matches. He is tied with Junaid Siddiqui for third place, while Logan Van Wyk and Ruben Trumpelman are second with 12 wickets each. Matthew Ford of Surrey is leading the list with 15 wickets.

In his last three matches in the Global T20 Canada league, Sandeep has taken 3 wickets against the Mississauga Panthers twice and 2 wickets against the Montreal Tigers and Toronto Nationals once each. He was wicketless against the Brampton Wolves.

Dipendra Airee’s performance:

Montreal easily defeated Brampton in the eliminator, winning by 9 wickets with 14.2 overs to spare. Chris Lynn was the star of the show, scoring an unbeaten 63 runs, while Carlos Brathwaite and Aayan Afzal Khan each took 2 wickets. Abbas Afridi and Dipendra Airee also chipped in with a wicket apiece.

Dipendra also run out two players in the match.

Dipendra ran out Colin de Grandhomme and Chris Green, with the help of wicketkeeper Wijeyeratne.

Airee was only given one over to bowl in the match. He dismissed Mark Chapman in the eighth over, conceding 6 runs. Chapman hit a four off the first ball of the over, but Airee bowled him on the third ball. After that, he did not get a chance to bowl. He did not get a chance in batting.

Dipendra Airee has been performing consistently in the Global T20 Canada tournament. He scored 24 runs against the Vancouver Knights in the last match, following up on his 28-run knock against the Brampton Wolves. Airee has not been batting aggressively, but he has been rotating the strike effectively and has looked composed at the crease. In addition to those two innings, Airee scored 28 not out against the Surrey Jaguars in the first match and 22 not out against Vancouver Knights in the second match. He also took 1 wicket in the second match against Vancouver Knights.
