Nepal Falls Again: Third Defeat to Canada in Tough Tour

The Nepali cricket team, currently touring Canada, suffered their third consecutive defeat against the home team during the tour.

In the Tri-Nation T20 series, which began today in Canada, the home team defeated Nepal by 14 runs. Earlier, Nepal had lost two ODIs against Canada during the ICC World Cup League-2. The T20I series includes Nepal, Canada, and Oman.

Chasing a target of 124 runs in King City, Canada, Nepal was bowled out for 109 in 19 overs.

For Nepal, captain Rohit Paudel top-scored with 37 runs before being bowled by Kaleem Sana. Kushal Malla contributed 22 runs, Sandeep Lamichhane added 10, and Dev Khanal also made 10 runs, but the other batters failed to reach double figures.

Kaleem Sana was the standout bowler for Canada, claiming 4 wickets for 26 runs. Saad Bin Zafar took 3 wickets ( 3/13 ), and Parveen Kumar along with Akhil Kumar picked up a wicket each.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Canada was invited to bat and posted 123 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

For Canada, Saad Bin Zafar top-scored with 23 runs off 18 balls before being caught by Kushal Malla off Sandeep Lamichhane. Shreyas Movva added 22 runs from 23 balls but was bowled by Lamichhane. Praveen Kumar chipped in with 19 runs off 13 balls before being bowled by Sompal Kami.

Sompal Kami and Sandeep Lamichhane were the standout bowlers for Nepal, each claiming 3 wickets, with Sompal conceding 30 runs and Sandeep giving away 29 runs. Dipendra Singh Airee also made an impact, taking 1 wicket while conceding just 11 runs in his 4 overs.

Making his T20I debut in this match, Nepal’s pace bowler Rijan Dhakal also picked up a wicket, dismissing Canadian opener Aaron Johnson for 9 runs. Rijan claimed his first wicket on the first ball of his second over, with Johnson caught by captain Rohit Paudel.

In this Tri-Nation series, Nepal, Canada, and Oman are participating. Nepal will face Oman in their second match on Sunday, and will play their third match against Canada on Tuesday. Nepal will again face Oman on Wednesday for their fourth game.
