Kathmandu Gorkhas have rebranded ahead of the second season of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), changing their name from “Kathmandu Gurkhas” and unveiling a new logo inspired by the heritage of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, and Nuwakot.
The team has appointed Monty Desai as head coach, supported by Vasant Shahi, Suraj Shakya, and Puran Tiruwa. Speaking about the changes, CEO Suraj Singh Thakuri stated that the revamp was necessary to bring new energy to the team after a disappointing fifth-place finish last season.
Royal Tulip Kathmandu has joined as the hospitality partner, while Worldlink becomes the main sponsor, with their logo to appear on the front of the team’s jersey. Players like Karan KC, Bhim Sharki, Shahab Alam, Rashid Khan, Dipesh Kandel, and Pratik Shrestha have been retained.
Training sessions will be held at Thunderbolt Cricket Academy, which offers modern facilities including floodlights. CAN Secretary Paras Khadka also hinted at night matches at TU Cricket Ground, once the venue upgrades are completed.
