Dipendra Airee Continues Impressive Batting Form in Global T20 Canada League

Nepali all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee, who played his third match under the ongoing Global T20 Canada League on Thursday, has continued his impressive performance.

Despite Dipendra’s team, the Montreal Tigers, suffering their first defeat in the league, he showcased a strong batting performance, excelling in contrast to his expensive bowling. The Brampton Wolves secured a victory, defeating the Tigers by 15 runs.

Dipendra bowled 2 overs, conceding 20 runs, and made a valuable contribution of 28 runs off 24 balls, including 2 fours.

Airee commenced his bowling spell in the eighth over of the first innings, conceding a mere 4 runs. However, in the tenth over, he gave away 16 runs. The over started with Mark Chapman hitting a four off the first ball, followed by a boundary and a six by Colin de Grandhomme. Consequently, Airee became the team’s most expensive bowler and was not given the opportunity to bowl further after that.

Throughout the innings, he showcased excellent strike rotation and managed to score boundaries off Hussain Talat in the twelfth over and Shahid Ahmadzai in the fourteenth over. Moreover, Airee displayed maturity by cleverly picking up singles and doubles. However, as the required run rate escalated, he was caught out by Logan Van Beek while attempting a big shot in the ninteenth over.

Dipendra had an impressive performance, scoring 28 runs against the Montreal Tigers in his first match, taking 1 wicket against the Vancouver Knights in his second match, and remaining unbeaten with 22 runs.

Chasing the target of 144 runs given by Brampton Wolves in the match, Montreal Tigers lost all wickets for 128 runs in 19.1 overs. Dipendra Airee and Shakib Al Hasan’s 28 runs were the highest contribution for the team. Apart from Dilpreet Singh scoring 24 runs and Sharfan Rutherford scoring 10 runs, the others could not score runs in double figures.

Brampton’s Logan van Beek, declared player of the match, took 3 wickets and Shahid Ahmadzai and Colin de Grandhomme took 2 wickets each.

Previously, Brampton lost the toss but managed to score 143 runs in 19.5 overs. Among their batsmen, Colin de Grandhomme made the highest contribution with 56 runs, followed by Usman Khan with 33 runs, and Mark Chapman with 21 runs.On the bowling front, Montreal’s Carlos Brathwaite and Ayan Afzal Khan were exceptional, taking 4 wickets each, while Shakib Al Hasan and Abbas Afridi chipped in with 1 wicket each.

In the upcoming league match, the Montreal Tigers are scheduled to face the Toronto Nationals on Saturday, July 19th, at 8:45 p.m.
