Nepal’s 17 years’ spin sensation Sandeep Lamichhane is awarded by “Sports scholarship” from Sanima Bank Pvt. Ltd.
Known as Nepal’s Shane Warne, Sandeep will get monthly twenty thousand for two years from today. That was made only possible after an initiation from the Cricket Players’ Association Nepal (CPAN), Sanima Bank’s Chief Executive Officer Bhuwan Dahal and Sandeep signed an agreement amidst a program.
Speaking in a program, CPAN’s president Pawan Agrawal and General Secretary Paras Khadka said such type of scholarships plays vital role to stop players going foreign.
“We hope our gesture will serve as an example to other corporate house to tie up with more players. We wanted a player to focus solely on his game without worrying for earnings. It can be taken as a sports stipend,” said Dahal, ECO of Sanima Bank.
Lamichhane was the 2nd highest wicket taker in the latest ICC U19 Cricket World Cup along with a hattrick against Ireland, Leg spinner had also played along with World Cup winning captain Micheal Charke in HK T20 Blitz and also short-listed by Nepal Sports Journalists Forum for the prestigious People’s Choice catagory of the Pulsar Sports Award.
