Biratnagar Kings, a franchise team in the Nepal Premier League (NPL), officially unveiled their jersey and anthem during a special ceremony held on Tuesday evening at Hotel Swagatam, Biratnagar. The team’s jersey features a combination of yellow and blue.
Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki, Biratnagar Kings owner Parash Lunia, and marquee player Sandeep Lamichhane jointly launched the jersey.
The event also saw the release of the team anthem, voiced by rapper Kushal Pokharel, who hails from Biratnagar. Additionally, singer Rachana Rimal was introduced as the Face of Biratnagar, while renowned actor Dayahang Rai serves as the goodwill brand ambassador for the NPL.
During the event, Nepal U-19 women’s cricket team head coach Mahesh Prasad Rijal and player Riya Sharma were honored for securing Nepal’s place in the Women’s World Cup. Chief Minister Karki and Parash Lunia presented them with awards. Cricket kits were also distributed to cricket associations from five districts of Koshi Province.
Speaking on the occasion, Biratnagar Kings owner Paras Lunia expressed that the NPL is a major milestone for Nepal’s sports sector. He emphasized the significance of the league as a platform for Nepalese players and stated, “We aim to advance the sports sector not only in Biratnagar but also across Koshi Province.” Similarly, Biratnagar Metropolitan City Mayor Nagesh Koirala expressed confidence that Biratnagar’s participation in the NPL would elevate its global recognition.
