Gorkha Brewery defeated Sipradi Trading in a last-ball finish to clinch the title of Coca Cola Indoor Corporate Tournament held in Velocity Arena.
Having won the toss, Sipradi opted to bat first and managed a handy-looking 91 in their alloted 12 overs of play. Chiran Thapa scored 24 runs off 26 balls to lay a solid foundation for him while Sriram Mandal’s brisk 19 off 10 ensured Sipradi put decent total on the board. for Gorkha brewery, Prashant Dhakal picked up two wickets and was ably supported by Krishna Banka and bivek Thapa who took one wicket each.
In reply, Brewery batsmen were able to win the crucial moments and somehow managed to cross the line in the last ball of the innings. Man of the Match Bishwas Manandhar top-scored for the winners with a 26-ball 36 but it was Bijay Rawat’s enterprising cameo of 30 runs from 14 balls with 2 sixes that proved to be the difference at the end. Mukesh Sigdel and Chiran Thapa took one wicket apiece but were unable to blow a knock-out punch.
Earlier in the day, Sipradi Trading had defeated Kantipur Media Group by a mammoth 56 runs to enter the final. Batting first, Sipradi scored an impressive 123 in their full quota of overs and bundled out Kantipur for mere 67 runs. Likewise, Gorkha Brewery Gorkha Brewery had won a tight match against F1 Soft by 6 runs to book their place in the title-clash. The eventual champions batted first and made 95 runs and were able to restrict F1 soft to 89 in their chase to earn a hard-fought victory.
In a rather interesting move, winner were awarded a silver trophy, something that is very rare in sports in Nepal.
