Sharad Vesawkar becomes he first Nepali cricketer to have his Twitter handle verified. Vesawkar is one of the more popular players among fans – in real and social media alike -and has been using the social networking site for the last five years.
The batting maestro, who had at times in the past been victimized because of few fake handles under his name, expressed happiness on finally being verified with his more than twenty one thousand followers. In his small chat with WicketNepal, Vesawkar said, ” I feel privileged to have been included among the selected ones (smiles) More than anything else, it helps me in connecting with my fans and well-wishers and also lets people know my real account.”

Previously, only Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) had its twitter handle verified. Likewise former CAN CEO Bhawana Ghimire got her verified a week back. Skipper Paras Khadka, who has more than 40 thousands followers in the social networking site is yet to have his account verified. Skipper, though, was the first one to have his Facebook page verified and has more than one hundred fifty thousand likes in it.
