Colors X-factors won  a thrilling must-win fixture in a Super-Over finish to set up a virtual semi-final with Vishal Warriors as they eliminated Jagadamba Rhinos from the tournament in the process.

Bucking the trend on the tournament, X-factors opted to bat first but were unable to capitalize as both their openers were dismissed for low scores. Captain Gyanendra Malla and Rajesh Pulami, with 29 a-piece to their name, kept the scoreboard moving albeit with a steady pace as they looked to stop the earlier slump. In pretty difficult batting conditions and up against a disciplined attack of Rhinos, X-factors were looking rather timid after the dismissal of aforementioned duo. Siddhant Lohani brought some life into the game with a six and a four in quick succession to help X-factors gain a total which they could aim to defend.

As with the trends in the earlier morning games, the chase of 113 was bound to be much tougher than what it may look under normal circumstances and a pumped-up Sanjam Regmi made sure Rhinos were given up big blows early in their chase. Regmi picked up all the first 4 wickets to fall for Rhinos in his spell of bowling which included everything – variations, guile, experience and a fair bit iif aggression. The match moved forward with tantalizing equations for victory – with each team taking turns to take the advantage. However once, hard-hitting Sompal Kami and experienced Shakti Gauchan were dismissed, X-factors seemed the team on the ascendancy. The last over started with 13 needed for the Rhinos,Pawan Sarraf took an initiative to take on perhaps the best death over bowler of the tournament. After a four and couple of twos in the over, he needed a four in the last ball to take the match into the super over.

And that is exactly what happened – the first Super Over of the WaiWai EPL.

In the one over eliminator, Rhinos batted first and scored 10 runs losing both the wickets, Sompal Kami, after having scored a six in the super over, came on to bowl for Rhinos but he conceded a first-ball six to Siddhant Lohani (shot in the picture above). After that, it was an easy sail for the rest overs as X-factors earnt a hard-fought victory. Sanjam Regmi was awarded man of the match for his brilliant bowling display.

X-factors will take on Vishal Warriors tomorrow in a winner-take-all contest to decide the team which will take on Panchakanya Tez in the final.
