Cosmos, Rajarshi, Triton, IOM, Samriddhi reach quarterfinal

Cosmos College, Rajarshi Janak Campus, Trition International College, Institute of Medicine, and Samriddhi College joined Kaustuv Academy, Kathmandu College of Management and Pentagon in the quarter final of the ongoing Inter College Super Cup being played at Ultimate Indoor Cricket, Koteshowar Kathmandu.

Cosmos defeated Raju Rijal’s Sudurpaschimanchal Academy(SPA) in a thrilling group A encounter. Man of the match Buddhi Dwariya got the first hattrick of the tournament in the final over with SPA needing 9 runs to win. Buddhi ended the match with 6 wickets, four of which came in the final over. SPA fell 26 runs short of Cosmos’ 88 runs. With 2 wins in 3 matches Cosmos qualified to the quarterfinal as runners up of group A. Kaustuv topped Group A with 3 wins in three matches. Cosmos will face winner of group B – Pentagon in the QF tomorrow.

SPA forfeited their final group game handing 3 points to White House College

In Group B, Rajarshi Janak Campus secured dual wins to qualify for QF behind group winners pentagon. Pradeep Airee’s RJC(104) first defeated Heartland(103) by 1 run thanks to a sensible 25 runs from Prakash Bista then brushed aside Himalaya COllege of Engineering by massive 102 runs thanks to an all round performance from Arun Airee. Airee contributed 23 runs as RJC posted 116 runs in in 12 overs and bagged 4 wickets to restrict HCOE to 12, the lowest total of the tournament.

RJC will now take on Pentagon in the QF tomorrow.

In Group C, Samriddhi defeated Nagarjuna by 29 runs and qualified for the quarterfinals with their second win. Batting first Nagarjuna posted 50 runs in 12 overs and Samriddhi scored 79 in reply. Samriddhi’s Shital Neupane who bagged 2 wickets and scored 17 runs got the man of the match.

In the final match of Group C Samriddhi faced 25 runs loss at hands of Kathmandu College of Management thanks to man of the match performance from Ankit Agarawal. With the win KCM qualified to QF as pool C winners.

In the only group D match played today, Triton thrashed Amrit Science Campus(ASCOL) by 86 runs. Batting first Ascol struggled to score runs and posted 50 runs in 12 overs. In reply Triton posted 136. Ascol, Triton and IOM all ended their group stage with 2 wins each but Triton and IOM qualified to QF as winners and runners up respectively owing to better NRR.

IOM will face KCM tomorrow, while Triton will take on Samriddhi.

Unlike the league stages which were 12 overs the quarterfinal of the tournament will be 18 over a side.
