Nepal under-19 cricket team has started training for ICC U-19 world cup Asia qualifiers in Noida, India . The qualifiers will take place from 15th – 25th of July in Singapore.
Nepal are bunched up with Afghanistan, Malaysia and the hosts Singapore in the qualifiers. The qualifiers will feature a double round robin format and the team finishing at top of the league will qualify through to the ICC U-19 world cup to be held in January, 2018 in New Zealand.
An 18-member squad travelled to India this Friday. A 14 member squad along with 4 reserve players will be announced at the end of the training.
The team will play 6-7 practice matches with the local teams in india and travel to Singapore in 14th of July after the end of the practice sessions.
Presently, the team is practising in Noida Cricket Stadium. The players are having net practice and fielding session along with fitness training.
Nepal U-19 cricket team had to travel to India for training since Nepal Sports Council (NSC) granted Asian Club Premier League (APL) to take place in Tribhuvan University international stadium. All the expenses for the training and management in India are compensated by the International Cricket Council (ICC) .
