Nepal U-19 team has registered second win in a row after a mammoth 249 runs victory against Gurugram Sports Club of Delhi in their 2nd practice match at the Gautam Buddha University Ground in Greater Noida on Wednesday.
Nepal posted a massive total of 338 for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs after skipper Sandeep Lamichhane elected to bat first. Gurugram Sports Club were bundled up for just 89 runs in 29.1 overs.
Opening batsman, Sandeep Sunar provided a good start to the team scoring 58 runs from 47 balls after his fellow partner Aasif Sheikh departed cheaply for just 1 run in the 4th over following his score of 0 in the previous practice match.
The middle overs were backed by Aadil khan who top scored with 75 runs off 100 runs hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes. Dipendra Singh Airee yet again fell short of his half century scoring 48 runs off 57 balls before he was caught out in the 40th over. Later, Pawan Sarraf cameo of 47 runs of just 22 balls ensured Nepal posted a massive total.
Pawan Sarraf was the star of the day who followed up his batting cameo with 4 wickets of 6 overs with 2 maidens conceding just 18 runs . Rohit Kumar Poudel and Bikram Kumal Bhusal were also amongst the wickets claiming 2 wickets each.
Previously Nepal U-19 won the 1st practice match against Friends Sports Club by 121 runs.
Nepal U-19 team are currently training in Noida, India preparing for ICC under-19 world cup Asia qualifiers to be held in Singapore from 15th-25th of July. Nepal are bunched up with Afghanistan, Malaysia and the hosts Singapore in the qualifiers. The winner will qualify through to the ICC under-19 world cup 2018 to be held in New Zealand, in January.
