Paras and Mahboob’s team lost their 1st match

In their first match of the tournament, Sighalese Sports Club has defeated Paras Khadka and Mahboob Alam‘s team Singapore Emerging Stars  by 36 runs (D/L method).

Stars were batting at 54/2 in the 6th over chasing a target of 193 runs in 17 overs when rain started pouring down heavily. No play was possible after that and ultimately match had to be decided by D/L method.

Dasun Shanaka scored a quickfire 79 not out from just 27 balls with 5 fours and 8 sixes and Minodh Banuka scored a 50 for Sighalese Sports Club while Mahboob Alam took 2 wickets for 39 runs bowling his full quota of 4 overs.

Only 5.4 overs of play was possible in the 2nd innings in which Stars managed just 26 runs losing 2 wickets, one including that of Mahboob Alam. Sri Lanka national and Sighalese Sports Club captain Sachithra Senanayaka took both the wickets for the club.

Mahboob Alam opened both the bowling and batting for Stars while Paras Khadka bowled 2 overs for 20 runs taking 1 wicket but did not get the chance to bat.

Singapore Emerging Stars will play both the remaining matches of Group ‘B’ tomorrow.
