DPL Day 6 : Pawan Sarraf’s exceptional performance wins it for Kings, Rupandehi’s poor form continues

Pawan Sarraf’s exceptional performance with both bat and the ball secured a victory for Biratnagar Kings by 18 runs against Team Chauraha Dhangadi. Sarraf first contributed 41 with the bat and later snatched 4 wickets to defend a low score of 127 runs.

Sarraf’s innings consisted of two sixes and a four in just 34 balls. At four wickets down, he came in the middle to revive the innings. Wicket kept tumbling from the other end, but he kept the score board ticking with singles and doubles. In defending a small total, he bagged crucial wickets of inform Sunil Dhamala (12), and Dhangadi’s top scorer Shankhar Rana (25). Sarraf also dismissed two tail enders to help dismiss the home team for a mere 109 runs in their 20 overs. Basant Regmi and Paras Khadka also contributed with two wickets each.

Earlier Sunil Dhamala also took 4 wickets to dismiss the kings for only 127 runs. Skipper Sompal bagged two wickets to his name.

In the second encounter of the day, Mahendranagar United chased down 145 runs courtesy of Skipper Binod Bhandari’s 61 runs knock with 5 fours and 2 humongous sixes. Bhandari went berserk all over the park on the way to a 4 wickets win for his side. He added 58 runs with Punit Bista (45 off 22 balls) for the wicket and also 37 runs for the sixth wicket with Punit Mehra.

Rupandehi Challengers failed bowling card was led by Dipesh Shrestha. His figure of 4-0-25-3 were laudable but was not enough to earn a win for the challengers.

Batting first, earlier Challengers posted 144 runs losing 8 wickets. Pradeep Airee was their top scorer with 39 runs from 32 balls. Sagar Pun also made 28 runs towards the middle of the innings.

With the loss, Rupandehi Challengers are still vying for their first win of the tournament while Mahendranagar win their second match of the tournament.
