Nepal Women’s Cricket Team Wins Quadrangular T-20I Series

The Nepal Women’s Cricket Team emerged victorious in the Quadrangular T-20 series held in Malaysia. In today’s final match, Nepal secured a 13-run victory over Hong Kong, securing the championship. The match’s outcome was determined using the Duckworth-Lewis method due to rain disrupting Nepal’s batting innings.

After winning the toss, Nepal decided to bowl first at the Bayuemas Oval Cricket Ground in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia batted against Nepal and scored 101 runs losing 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Nepal entered the field with a winning target of 120 runs. After playing 5.3 overs, the match was stopped due to rain. At that time, Nepal had scored 37 runs for the loss of one wicket. Indu Barma was batting with 19 runs and Sita Rana Magar with 13 runs. Before that, Kajal Shrestha was out without scoring a run. Nepal was declared the winner as the match could not be restarted due to excessive rain.

Earlier, while batting for Hong Kong, Yasmin Daswani scored 11 runs, Ka Ying Chan scored 29 runs, Marina Buonocore Antonia scored 19 runs, and Shanzeen Shahzad scored 14 unbeaten runs.

On the bowling side, Khushi Dangol took three wickets, conceding 20 runs in her three-over spell. Ashmina Karmacharya and Kabita Joshi took one wicket each for Nepal. Nepal’s Khushi Dangol was the player of the match in the final.

Nepal defeated Hong Kong by 6 wickets in the first match of the group stage and Kuwait by 34 runs in the second match. In the last match, Nepal lost to Malaysia by 6 wickets. Likewise, Hong Kong was defeated by Nepal by 6 wickets in the first match. They defeated Malaysia by 10 wickets in the second match and Kuwait by 16 runs in the third match.

Nepal, Hong Kong and Kuwait participated in the women’s T-20 series along with host Malaysia. Nepal played this series as a preparation for the ICC Women’s T-20 World Cup Asia Qualifier to be held in Malaysia from August 31st.
