The Kathmandu Gurkhas, a franchise team of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket, officially unveiled their jersey on Sunday during a grand event held at Hotel Yak and Yeti. The event also featured the release of their team’s television commercial (TVC).
Owned by Kathmandu Sports Development Venture, the team’s jersey was revealed by star cricketer Karan KC in the presence of co-founder Shringhala Khatiwada and cricket ambassador Indu Barma.
The jersey design prominently features black as the primary color with yellow accents. Player numbers are in white for enhanced visibility. Players were given a traditional Panchai Baja (five-instrument ensemble) welcome, and cultural performances by artists added vibrancy to the ceremony.
Indu Barma as Cricket Ambassador
Nepali women’s national cricket team captain, Indu Barma, has been named the cricket ambassador for the Kathmandu Gurkhas.
During the jersey launch event, the Gurkhas officially announced Barma’s new role. Expressing her gratitude, Captain Barma thanked the Kathmandu team for the opportunity and shared her excitement about the league.
She described the NPL as a “festival of cricket” that has amplified cricket’s craze in Nepal. She also expressed hope for a women’s edition of the NPL in the future.
