Former Nepal cricket captain and CAN Secretary Paras Khadka delivered a powerful speech at the ICC Annual Conference in Singapore, outlining Nepal’s cricket journey and future ambitions.
He highlighted the success of the Nepal Premier League (NPL), the rise of women’s cricket, structural reforms, and Nepal’s goal to become a Test-playing nation. Khadka described the NPL as a transformative moment, attracting international stars and showcasing Nepal on a global stage.
Recalling Nepal’s achievements, he noted participation in two World Cups and a narrow 1-run loss to South Africa in 2024, witnessed by thousands of passionate Nepali fans in Dallas.
On women’s cricket, Khadka emphasized its importance for full membership status, announcing Nepal’s historic qualification for the Global Qualifier.
He also praised government support, including a doubled sports budget and plans for Nepal’s first international stadium with floodlights. He stressed the need to balance franchise cricket revenue with attention to Test cricket.
Looking ahead, Khadka said, “We have fans, government and ICC support. We are about to play our first series against West Indies. Becoming a Test nation is not just a dream but our commitment.”
Khadka’s address was well received by cricket officials and experts, signaling Nepal’s growing influence and clear vision on the world cricket stage.
