ICC CEO in Nepal to hold talks with stakeholders

Kathmandu 3 September – David Richardson, CEO of the International Cricket Committee (ICC), leading a team of officials is  set to arrive in Kathmandu tomorrow to hold talks with all the stake-holders in Nepali cricket and try and reach a logical conclusion.

The ICC team had made its officials visit just a couple of months back and urged everyone involved to work out on a result. However it was not to be as the ICC finally made its decision to suspend Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) on the grounds of internal conflict and government interference. In a quick turn of events, recently reformed Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and its officials pressurized ICC in its meeting to work on the revocation of suspension resulting in a second official  visit in a short span of time.

The ICC team is said to be mainly focusing on reaching out a deal with all aggrieved parties. The team is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Sports Minister Daljit Sherpaili, both the elected and ad-hoc committees of CAN and National Sports Council. After the unilateral and multilateral talks, ICC team is reported to be trying to form a working committee comprising of all the concerned parties. The working committee thus formed will review the CAN statute and reform it wherever necessary. ICC is also set to impose certain conditions to work out the negotiations.
