Lamichhane set to train alongside Clarke

Leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane is set to represent Sydney-bases club Western Suburbs after he received an invitation from former Australian ODI and Test Captain Michael Clarke. The young spinner is also set to train alongside Clarke in his cricket academy in Sydney during his season long stay in the country.

In a press release issued by the club it stated that Clarke had recognized Sandeep’s potential during his short T2o stint in Hong Kong. “Sandeep is a fantastic young man who enjoys his cricket and is extremely passionate about the game,” Clarke was quoted as saying in the release. “It is a really exciting opportunity to have such a talented Nepalese cricketer travel this distance to come and test his skills and improve his game at my academy.I am looking forward to working with him and all the boys and girls that will attend the 5-day live in camp starting September 26th.Sandeep will fit in well at my club, Wests have always gone out of their way to look after the younger players and he will be a great asset to the club this summer.”

The club further stated that the Nepalese community in the Western Suburbs area will assist Lamichhane in settling into Sydney, and he will stay with a local family.  Clarke and Lamichhane will both feature in Western Suburbs’ first match of the season against Mosman on September 24 in Sydney.

Clarke has been a big fan of the leg spinner ever since the duo played together for Kowlon Cantoons  in the Hong Kong T20 Blitz. The pair have had some friendly moments on and off the field with both taking out time to interact with each other even on the social media ever since their first meet.
