Sandeep Lamichhane adjudged Man of the Series, sets new record.

Nepal skipper Sandeep Lamichhane has been declared Man of the Series in the ICC U-19s
World Cup 2018 Asia Qualifier, held from 16th of July to the 25th at Singapore.

The leggie, who many believe to have the potential of being one of the finest spinners in the world, took 24
wickets in the series playing just 6 matches.

With this, Sandeep has set the record for highest wickets in any international tournament by a Nepali
cricketer. Previously, this record was shared by Basant Regmi, Rahul BK and Binod Das, with 21 wickets
each. Basant Regmi achieved the milestone during Division 4 tournament back in 2012 while Rahul BK took
21 in the U-19 World Cup Qualifier, 2011. Binod Das had the record solely to his name for 6 years, set
in 2005 during ACC Fast Track Countries ( 3 day) tournament.

Though Nepal finished second in the tournament and unfortunately could not make it to New Zealand,
Sandeep’s super bowling has definitely raised many eyebrows. Lamichhane took 3 wickets against
Afghanistan, 9 against Singapore and showed no mercy against Malaysia, spinning through 12 of their
possible 20 wickets. His 7 for 13 against Malaysia in just 9.1 overs will be remembered by many as one
of the finest bowling performance in age group cricket.
