Nepal need one more win to qualify for the World Cup qualifier after winning the match against PNG by nine wickets.

Nepal won the match against PNG in ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 at the TU Cricket Ground (Nepal), registering a big victory over PNG by 9 wickets.

In the Nepal batting inning, PNG has no chance to get back into the game. This is the second-lowest score in PNG ODI history. Also the lowest ODI score against Nepal in Oman in 2021.

The Nepali batsmen play an aggressive inning to reach their target within 10 overs. Nepal scored 100 runs with 9 wickets left in 7.4 overs. Nepali Both openers play aggressive innings since they start an inning. Aasif Sheikh was the top scorer for Nepal, scoring 53 off 21 balls, and Kushal Bhurtel scored 33 runs in 14 balls.

Chad Soper took 1 wicket, while other players weren’t able to take wickets for PNG. PNG conceded 2 extra runs with 2 no ball.

Before that, Nepal won the toss and elected to field first. PNG only managed to score 95 runs in 32 overs and lost all 10 wickets. Captain Assad Vala was the top scorer for Nepal, scoring 20 off 31 balls, and Sese Bau scored 18 runs in 28 balls.

Nepali bowler Sandeep Lamichhane took 5 wickets. while Kushal Malla and Lalit Rajbanshi took 2 wickets each. The Nepali bowlers gave away 5 extras, which included 2 wides.

This is the third five-wicket haul of Sandeep Lamichhane’s ODI career. Sandeep Lamichhane only needs 2 wickets in 4 games to become the fastest player to take 100 wickets in an ODI. Nepali bowlers restricted opponent teams to under 100 runs in back-to-back matches.
